Children in Denmark

A mission close to home

The LEGO Foundation was founded in Denmark and remains rooted in Danish society today. Our work here is an expression of the shared global commitment: that every child, in every setting, deserves the conditions to thrive and grow.

We invest in the education and wellbeing systems that shape children's lives in Denmark

Working with municipalities, educational institutions and civil society organisations to strengthen early childhood education, support children's learning and development, and build the professional capacity of the people who work closest to children every day.

As a part of the Kingdom of Denmark, Greenland is included in this strategic commitment. We work with partners who understand the distinct contexts and realities of children growing up in Greenland, developing solutions that are relevant and culturally grounded.

How we work

Our work takes several forms: funding programmes that strengthen early childhood education and care, supporting learning environments that work for all children, investing in professional development for educators and pedagogical staff, and collaborating with municipalities and institutions on initiatives designed to create lasting systemic change.

We see Denmark as a place to build and test evidence. What we learn in Denmark informs our thinking globally, and what we learn globally strengthens our work at home.
