Our Board of Directors
The LEGO Foundation is overseen by a Board of Directors with six members who are elected in accordance with our charter. The Board sets the Foundation's strategic direction, approves how our resources are used, including grants, and ensures the Foundation is managed responsibly and in line with relevant legislation.
The Board also appoints the CEO, who is responsible for the Foundation's overall leadership and day-to-day operations.

How the Board is elected
Board members are elected for two-year terms, balancing the need for fresh perspectives with continuity. At least two members are independent, in compliance with the Danish Recommendations on Foundation Governance.
Members are appointed based on their professional qualities and competences. Each year, the Board evaluates its own composition to ensure the right collective expertise is in place to serve the Foundation's purpose. In accordance with our charter, no individual over the age of 75 may be elected or re-elected to the Board.
As a corporate foundation owning 25% of the LEGO Group, we have two closely connected purposes.
As a co-owner, we help safeguard and support the LEGO Group’s continued development and long-term success. Our philanthropic purpose is to support initiatives within education, research and child development.
These two purposes are closely linked. The commercial success of the LEGO Group enables us to pursue our philanthropic ambitions and support positive change for children.

Executive Leadership
The LEGO Foundation is led by CEO Sidsel Marie Kristensen, who joined the Board of Directors in 2020 and has served as CEO since 2023. She is also CEO of LEGO Foundation Investments A/S, the Foundation's wholly owned subsidiary responsible for its investment activities.
Under her leadership, the Foundation has sharpened its strategic focus, deepened its commitment to evidence-based grantmaking and strengthened its partnerships in Denmark and around the world.
