We are the LEGO Foundation, an independent Danish enterprise/corporate foundation working with partners around the world to support children's needs and champion the dignity of childhood.
We believe every young person deserves a childhood that protects them, respects them and lets them be a child. That is what we are building through partnerships, knowledge, funding and investment in solutions that help children thrive.
The LEGO Foundation exists to fulfil a dual purpose.
As part-owner of the LEGO Group, we act as a long-term custodian of the Group's continued development and success. At the same time, our philanthropic mission is to support initiatives in education, research and child development. These two purposes are complementary.
The commercial strength of the LEGO Group is what enables our philanthropic ambitions, and our work on behalf of children reflects the values at the heart of the LEGO legacy. We are governed by our charter, which sets out both purposes and guides how we balance ownership, stewardship and philanthropy.

What it means to be a Danish corporate foundation
As a Danish corporate foundation, we operate under a legal framework that defines how we are governed, how decisions are made, and how resources are used.
Unlike a private charitable trust or a family office, a Danish corporate foundation is an independent legal entity with its own Board of Directors, its own governance obligations and a mandate that cannot simply be changed at will.
This structure matters because it creates accountability. The Foundation's philanthropic mission is not a preference; it is a purpose enshrined in our charter and subject to Danish foundation law.
It means our commitment to children is structural, not discretionary, and it enables us to take a genuinely long-term view on behalf of society, one that is not subject to changing priorities or short-term pressures.

How we work
We work through carefully selected, long-term partnerships with organisations whose priorities align with our mission and strategic direction. We fund and collaborate with partners who are closest to children's lives, in Denmark and around the world.
Our work is guided by evidence. We invest in approaches that are proven, scalable and designed to create lasting change for children. We measure what we do, so we can learn, improve and ensure our resources go where they have the greatest effect.
We work across multiple areas: children in conflict and crisis settings, children with special educational needs, children in Denmark, and evidence and impact. Together, these areas reflect where we believe focused, sustained investment can make the most meaningful difference for children.
