About the contributor:
Dr David Howes is Deputy Secretary, Schools and Regional Services at the Department of Education and Training, Victorian Government, Australia. Prior to his current post, Dr Howes has held the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA). He holds BA (Hons), Dip Ed, MEd and PhD degrees from the University of Melbourne and an Executive Masters of Public Administration from Monash University. Part of his MEd course of study was completed at the Institute of Education, University of London. David has more than 30 years’ experience in education as a teacher, educator and researcher in Australia and overseas, and has a deep interest in curriculum, assessment and student learning.
The ambition is for students in Victoria to develop their critical and creative thinking skills to the highest level.
