The LEGO Foundation has partnered with the Center on the Developing Child at Harvard University, a leading voice in early childhood. The partnership is founded on a shared view that play is a critical vehicle for developing the foundational cognitive, emotional, and social skills in the earliest years that are critical for success in school, in the work place and throughout life.
The priorities of the partnership are to:
- Identify and support programmes to improve impact by linking science and practice
Work with the LEGO Foundation network of partners and other play-based interventions to develop and apply a rigorous, science-based framework for designing, testing, and evaluating new strategies to improve child outcomes and increase impact.
- Develop and translate evidence to gain a deeper understanding of science and its connection to play
Explore new knowledge about how play supports the healthy development of underlying cognitive, social, and emotional skills essential for effective learning.
- Catalyse an Innovation Cluster in Mexico
Build capacity for Foundation partners and other leading ECD organisations in Mexico to understand and apply the science of ECD, play, and science-based innovation as part of the Center’s Frontiers of Innovation.
The global partnership will run for three years until November 2019.
