The LEGO Foundation is co-funding the development of an early childhood education programme, ping:pong, for children from 3 to 6 years of age to support the transitions from home to kindergarten to school in Switzerland.
The aim of the project is to design, implement, evaluate and launch the ping:pong programme to promote age appropriate early childhood support by and between educational institutions (kindergartens, pre-school, play groups) and families.
The project will equip parents to engage their children in learning through play activities, to prepare the children to enter primary school. An important component is to strengthen the collaboration between educational institutions and families. It is a three-year project, launched in 2016, and will reach app. 700-900 families with a migration or low-income background in Switzerland, with lessons applicable in other contexts.
