Communities of Learning through Play
Globally, there is a growing focus on quality in learning and what this means at national levels. This creates a unique opportunity for the LEGO Foundation to influence how communities prepare children for the future.

The LEGO Foundation works with three so-called "geographic deep dives" - in South Africa, Mexico and Denmark -that all experience different challenges in achieving quality learning and academic results. There is often a lack of holistic thinking and co-operation across the learning ecosystem and little recognition of the possibility of using learning through play as a driver to empower creative, engaged lifelong learners.
With this programme we create synergies through partnerships and collaboration across the full learning ecosystem in each country, and use examples of how children learn through play to emphasise creative, engaged, lifelong learning and its impact in practice.
We drive a holistic change agenda that target the full ecosystem to create commitment, collaboration and motivation to create the best learning environments for children up to the age of twelve.
Our focus areas within this programme are to:
- Develop best practices for cross-sector dialogue and collaboration through new models for partnerships
- Create commitment and engagement from all local stakeholders into the learning through play agenda
- Advocate for and work towards the inclusion of learning through play in all learning environments around the child, to illustrate the synergetic effect on each child's development towards becoming a creative, engaged lifelong learner
