Architects of a better world

On September 20, 2013, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon added the last LEGO element to a large LEGO scale model of the United Nations' Headquarters in New York, as part of the UN Global Compact Leaders Summit focused on "Architects of a Better World".

Involving children in environmental development

 

Students from Amager Fælled School, Copenhagen, were involved in a building session as part of the LEGO Foundation's participation in the 2013 EFC Conference — featuring perspectives centered on "Sustainable cities: Foundations and our urban future".

An amazing and life-changing journey for three academically talented young girls from the township of Atteridgeville near Pretoria in South Africa. Karabo, Lebogang Dlamini, and Khomotso joined forces and became the Crazy Divas. With support from the LEGO Foundation, the three girls participated in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) in Malaysia in 2012.

Disaster risk reduction project

Risks can be reduced and eliminated if you know what to look for. That's the philosophy behind the LEGO Risk Mapping Pilot Project - a playful tool for children to recognise and prevent various risks through play. The LEGO Foundation supported a Save the Children Denmark project in India in 2012, reaching five communities in Delhi and in West Bengal.

Using LEGO bricks as a tool in Early Childhood Development

In 2012, the LEGO Foundation made an agreement with BØRNEfonden to support the five African countries in which the Foundation works, by supplying 600 boxes with LEGO play materials to each country.

Stimulating children through play

Teacher training and introducing LEGO® bricks and materials are the tools to raise quality of early childhood education in Kenya, Rwanda and Somalilland in partnership with SOS Children’s Villages Denmark. Here, education is designed to develop children as they grow from childhood to maturity, drawing on principles from the child’s natural development.
