LEGO Foundation donates record DKK 4,8 million to Denmark’s Collection
Again this year the LEGO Foundation has teamed up with DR Ramasjang and the Danish libraries to encourage all Danish children to do good deeds that were rewarded with a donation for Danmarks Indsamling (Denmark’s Collection).
Over the past five weeks, children all over Denmark have done good deeds to help the people of Africa. Every good deed done – from collecting trash at the school playground to clearing away snow for their grandparents – was registered at the local library and contributed to the yearly Danmark’s Indsamling (Denmark's Collection) where all of Denmark comes together to donate money for projects run by humanitarian organisations on the African continent.
And Danish children’s efforts this year have truly been impressive. With the LEGO Foundation donating DKK 25 per good deed done, the total amount of our donation for Danmarks Indsamling was DKK 4.853.325. An all time record high donation for the show.
The LEGO Foundation supports the DR Ramasjang initiative because it is a good way of involving children actively. Here they do not only do something good for others close to them without getting something in return. Their actions also do good for others far away through the admirable work done by Danish humanitarian organisations in Africa.
The collected money from Danmarks Indsamling goes to creating a foundation for a better life and future for some of the most poverty-stricken people in the world. From helping to prevent natural disasters in Uganda to fighting malnutrition in Burkina Faso and ensuring quality education in Mozambique.
